Rangers announce Spring Training schedule

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers will open their 2017 Cactus League schedule on Feb. 25 against the Royals at Surprise Stadium, according to their Spring Training schedule announced on Tuesday.
Texas closes its Spring Training schedule with two games against the Royals on March 31-April 1 at Globe Life Park in Arlington. The Rangers open the regular season against the Indians on April 3 in Arlington.

Texas' Spring Training schedule includes two games against the Indians on March 17-18 in San Antonio as part of the annual Big League Weekend. The Rangers will have split-squad games both days in Arizona against the Angels in Surprise on March 17 and the Reds in Goodyear the following day.
The Rangers will play 33 games in Arizona, two in San Antonio and two in Arlington. One of the games in Arizona is against Team Venezuela on March 9 as they prepare for the World Baseball Classic. That means the Rangers could face shortstop and other teammates who are planning to play for Venezuela.

The world-champion Cubs are scheduled to make their visit to Surprise for an afternoon game on March 5. Other popular visits to Surprise include the D-backs on Feb. 28, the Dodgers on March 23 and 26 and the Giants on March 13.
The Rangers will host the division-rival Mariners on March 3 and 19, while the A's don't come to Surprise next spring. The Rockies will make two trips to Surprise on March 7 and 27, as will the White Sox on March 11 and 21. The Brewers will make one trip on Feb. 27, as will the Indians on March 15 and the Padres on March 24. The Rangers' final game in Arizona is on March 29 against the Royals in Surprise.
The Rangers are off on March 8, 16 and 30.
