The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has sent Minor League INF/OF Ryan Cordell to the Milwaukee Brewers to complete the trade of Aug. 1. In that deal, Texas acquired RHP Jeremy Jeffress and C Jonathan Lucroy for RHP Luis Ortiz, OF Lewis Brinson and a player to be named later.
Cordell batted .264 with 19 homers and 70 RBIs in 107 games for Double-A Frisco in 2016 while playing exclusively in the outfield. He has been sidelined since Aug. 3 with a right high ankle sprain.
Texas' 11th-round pick in the 2013 MLB Draft, Cordell has also seen extensive time at shortstop in his four-year pro career. He was a non-roster invitee in Texas' 2016 major league spring training camp.
