Tolleson outrighted, opts for free agency

October 27th, 2016

Right-handed relief pitcher has declined his outright Minor League assignment to Triple-A Round Rock and will enter the free agency market, the Rangers announced Thursday.
Tolleson, 28, began the season as Texas' closer, but struggled, compiling a 7.68 ERA and 1.73 WHIP over 37 appearances before landing on the 60-day disabled list in August with a lower back strain.
Tolleson led the Rangers with 174 appearances over his three seasons with the club, while collecting 46 saves in that span. Tolleson also recorded two scoreless appearances during the 2015 American League Division Series against Toronto.
