Cancer survivor Beasley honored with Good Guy Award

December 21st, 2016

ARLINGTON -- Third-base coach Tony Beasley has seen selected as the 2016 winner of the Harold McKinney Good Guy Award, the Rangers announced on Wednesday.
Beasley will receive the award at the Dr. Pepper Awards Dinner on Jan. 20 at Gilley's Dallas.
Beasley missed this past season while undergoing treatment for rectal cancer, which was diagnosed in February. He was around the team between treatments but given modified duties while Spike Owen served as the third-base coach.
Beasley was declared cancer-free earlier this month and is expected to resume his third-base duties next season. Owen has taken an assignment as a Minor League manager at Class A Hickory.
Tickets for the dinner are now on sale at www.texasrangers.com/awards and priced at $100 each. Proceeds benefit the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation. The dinner will begin at 7 p.m. CT.
