SEATTLE -- A day after throwing his second batting-practice session, Rays closer Brad Boxberger was feeling good and ready to move to the next leg of his rehab.
According to Rays manager Kevin Cash, Boxberger (adductor surgery), who led the American League in saves in 2015 with 41, is expected to pitch an extended spring game on Thursday. After that game, the right-hander will be re-evaluated.
If all goes well, Boxberger will advance to a rehab assignment.
Boxberger has not experienced any setbacks in his recovery from his surgery. He is expected to be back with the Rays any time between the middle of May and the first part of June.
