NEW YORK -- Enny Romero (strained back) will throw a simulated game on Monday. The Rays left-hander said he was feeling better and he hopes that his control problems were a result of his back problem.
Rays manager Kevin Cash told reporters that if all goes well, Romero could begin a rehab assignment at the end of the week.
First baseman Logan Morrison (right forearm strain) and outfielder Oswaldo Arcía (right elbow strain) were off on Sunday. Both will be at Tropicana Field on Monday to be re-evaluated.
Right-hander Chase Whitely (Tommy John surgery) is expected to start Tuesday for Class A Advanced Charlotte against Jupiter (Marlins) in Port Charlotte. And fellow right-hander Alex Cobb (Tommy John surgery) is scheduled to start Tuesday for Triple-A Durham at Columbus (Indians).

Bill Chastain has covered the Rays for MLB.com since 2005.
