BOSTON -- and were in the Rays' clubhouse Friday afternoon, but Fenway Park served merely as a way station for their trip to Chattanooga, where they will make rehab appearances for Double-A Montgomery on Saturday night.
Eovaldi signed with the Rays in the spring. He's in the final stages of his recovery from Tommy John surgery, and he'll be making his first rehab start.
"My arm has been feeling great," Eovaldi said. "I've been having success [while recovering]. It will be nice to have some actual umpires back there calling balls and strikes."
Eovaldi said he won't be back with the Rays as a starter this season, but the chances of him making some relief appearances are a possibility.
"We're going to try and get two or three rehab assignments in, then hopefully I'll rejoin the team," Eovaldi said.
Cedeno has not pitched since April 16 and has been on the disabled list since April 21 due to left forearm tightness.
The plan is for Eovaldi to start Saturday, and he'll be followed by Cedeno to make sure both get to pitch.
