Longoria needs boost in All-Star voting

June 14th, 2016

St. PETERSBURG -- The latest American League All-Star ballot results were released on Tuesday, and the Rays do not have a candidate among the leaders.
Rays fans still need to get behind Evan Longoria. The Rays' third baseman is having one of his best seasons in recent years and seemingly has found his groove.
Longoria was named the AL Player of the Week last week for the seventh time in his career, and he talked about the prospect of making this year's team: "I love the opportunity to represent the American League," he said. "The All-Star Game, there's nothing else like it."
Only the Top Five at each position (and Top 15 outfielders) have been released.
Fans can cast their votes for starters at MLB.com and all 30 club sites -- on their computers, tablets and smartphones -- exclusively online using the 2016 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot until Thursday, June 30, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
