ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.—The Tampa Bay Rays revealed a new road uniform to be worn beginning Tuesday, Sept. 22. The uniform debuts as the franchise solidifies its future and new ballpark home in Tampa Bay. This uniform represents the commitment between the club and its region, putting ‘Tampa Bay’ back onto its front.
The team will wear the new uniforms for the first time against the New York Yankees on Tuesday, Sept. 22 during Game 2 of the day’s doubleheader beginning at 7:05 p.m. and will serve as the Rays primary road uniforms moving forward, replacing the current Columbia blue jerseys featuring the burst logo. The uniform celebrates the passion of Rays fans who voted for and selected the design in a poll on the Rays social media channels in March 2026.
“These uniforms celebrate our long-term commitment to Tampa Bay,” said Rays Chief Executive Officer Ken Babby. “As our team travels the country, we do so with tremendous admiration for our home. Tampa Bay is always in our hearts and that’s why we will wear it across our chest.
“We are particularly proud that our fans helped choose this design, and we love the fact they want the baseball world to see ‘Tampa Bay’ when we play on the road.”
Similar to the City Connect uniforms introduced in 2024, the jersey will read “Tampa Bay” across the chest. This is a modern take on the original road gray “Tampa Bay” uniforms first worn by the club between 1998-2000.
Additional design features of the new Rays uniforms include:
- The gradient on the front of the jersey features an updated design to mirror the electric colors seen on the original home Devil Rays uniform set, which was brought back into the permanent style guide in 2023 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the team.
- The cap features a modern version of the original 1998 cap and intentionally replaces some of the original black swatches with the modern Rays navy blue.
- The positioning of the ray on the jersey front is reformatted to provide a more clean, modern look as it falls across the buttons on the front of the jersey. There is a noticeable closing of the gap between the type and the ray for a more cohesive, enveloped look.
Fans can preorder the new jersey at the Bay Republic Team Store at Tropicana Field starting Monday, Sept. 21.
