BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today announced the following roster moves:
- Reinstated outfielder Roman Anthony and shortstop Trevor Story from the 60-Day Injured List.
- Optioned catcher/first baseman Mickey Gasper and infielder Anthony Seigler to Triple-A Worcester after the second game of yesterday’s doubleheader against the New York Yankees.
The Red Sox’ 40-man roster is now at 40.
Anthony, 22, was placed on the Injured List on May 7 (retroactive to May 5) with a right wrist sprain. The left-handed hitter played in eight rehab games with Double-A Portland (four games) and Triple-A Worcester (four games), batting .280 (7-for-25) with two doubles, two home runs, seven RBI, and four walks, while making six starts in left field and two as the designated hitter. He has hit .229 (25-for-109) in 30 games this season for Boston. Selected by the Red Sox in the second round of the 2022 First-Year Player Draft, the Florida native has hit .273 (100-for-366) with 23 doubles, two triples, nine home runs, 37 RBI, 60 walks, 60 runs scored, and an .804 OPS in 101 career Major League games, all with the Red Sox (2025-26).
Story, 33, was placed on the Injured List on May 16 (retroactive to May 15) with a sports hernia. The right-handed hitter made 10 rehab appearances with Triple-A Worcester, going 6-for-35 with one double and three RBI, while starting eight games at shortstop and two as the designated hitter. He has hit .206 (34-for-165) with seven doubles, three home runs, and 19 RBI in 41 games this season for Boston. Originally selected by the Colorado Rockies in Competitive Balance Round A of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft, the Texas native has batted .262 (1,104-for-4,208) with an .808 OPS, 207 home runs, 655 RBI, and 164 stolen bases in 1,106 career Major League games with the Rockies (2016-21) and Red Sox (2022-26).
Gasper, 30, has played in 45 games with Boston this season, batting .278 (37-for-133) with eight doubles, one triple, five home runs, 19 RBI and an .840 OPS. The switch-hitter has also played in 54 games this year for Worcester, hitting .337 (66-for-196) with 18 doubles, nine home runs, 42 RBI, 42 walks, 41 runs scored, a .450 on-base percentage, and a 1.016 OPS. Originally selected by the New York Yankees in the 27th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, the New Hampshire native has hit .211 (52-for-246) in 103 career Major League games for the Red Sox (2024, 2026) and Minnesota Twins (2025).
Seigler, 27, has played in 48 games for Boston this season, batting .250 (37-for-148) with 12 doubles, one triple, three home runs, 13 RBI, 18 walks, and a .736 OPS. The switch-hitter has also played in 37 games this year for Worcester, hitting .290 (38-for-131) with 18 runs scored, eight doubles, one triple, three home runs, 23 RBI, and an .844 OPS. Originally selected by the New York Yankees in the first round (No. 23 overall) of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, the Arizona native has hit .233 (49-for-210) in 82 career Major League games with the Milwaukee Brewers (2025) and Red Sox (2026).
