BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today announced the following roster moves:
- Added left-handed pitcher Erik Miller to the active Major League roster. He will wear number 67.
- Added catcher Jake Rogers to the active Major League roster. He will wear number 46.
- Added outfielder Eli White to the active Major League roster. He will wear number 38.
- Optioned infielder/outfielder Romy Gonzalez to Triple-A Worcester.
- Designated right-handed pitcher Ryan Watson for assignment.
Miller, 28, was acquired yesterday from the San Francisco Giants alongside minor league outfielder Carlos Gutierrez in exchange for infielder Marcelo Mayer. He made 38 appearances for the Giants this season, going 2-0 with 10 holds, four saves, a 2.76 ERA (10 ER/32.2 IP), and 45 strikeouts. The left-hander has made 14 consecutive scoreless appearances, beginning on June 19, tossing 13.0 innings over that span while recording a 0.85 WHIP and .143 opponent batting average (6-for-42). Originally selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the fourth round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, the Missouri native owns a 3.05 ERA (44 ER/130.0 IP), a .210 opponent batting average (97-for-461), and 154 strikeouts in 147 career games (10 starts), all with the Giants (2024-26).
Rogers, 31, was acquired yesterday from the Baltimore Orioles alongside catcher Adley Rutschman and cash considerations in exchange for catcher Carlos Narváez, minor league right-handed pitchers Anthony Eyanson and Kyson Witherspoon, minor league outfielder Enddy Azocar, and a player to be named later or cash considerations. He was traded from the Detroit Tigers to the Orioles on July 30. The right-handed hitter played in 39 games this season for Detroit (36 games) and Baltimore (three games), making 33 starts as the catcher and batting .163 (16-for-98) with 11 runs scored, two doubles, one triple, three home runs, and nine RBI. Originally selected by the Houston Astros in the third round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, the Texas native has hit .197 (214-for-1,087) with 42 doubles, 47 home runs, and 138 RBI in 370 career Major League games with the Tigers (2019, 2021, 2023-26) and Orioles (2026).
White, 32, was acquired yesterday from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for right-handed pitcher Tyler Uberstine. He played in 69 games for the Braves this season, batting .233 (31-for-133) with 17 runs scored, six doubles, one triple, five home runs, and 17 RBI. The right-handed hitter has made 18 starts in right field, 10 in left field, six in center field, and one as the designated hitter. Originally selected by the Athletics in the 11th round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, the South Carolina native has hit .212 (168-for-793) with 25 doubles, six triples, and 25 home runs in 345 career Major League games with the Texas Rangers (2020-22) and Braves (2023-26).
Gonzalez, 29, has batted .185 (12-for-65) with three doubles, one triple, one home run, and seven RBI in 19 games for Boston this season. The right-handed hitter has made eight starts as the designated hitter, five at second base, and three at first base. Originally selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 18th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, the Florida native has hit .262 (212-for-809) with 47 doubles, eight triples, 21 home runs, and 116 RBI in 290 career Major League games with the White Sox (2021-23) and Red Sox (2024-26).
Watson, 28, has pitched in 35 games for Boston this season, his Major League debut, posting a 4.53 ERA (28 ER/55.2 IP) with 43 strikeouts. The right-hander was selected by the Athletics in the 2025 Rule-5 Draft from the San Francisco Giants before being traded to the Red Sox on December 12. Originally selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 39th round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, the Alabama native has posted a 4.14 ERA (159 ER/345.1 IP) with 369 strikeouts in 157 career minor league games (34 starts).
