BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today selected right-handed pitcher Wyatt Olds to the active Major League roster from Triple-A Worcester. He will wear number 75. To make room, Boston optioned left-handed pitcher Raymond Burgos to Triple-A Worcester.
The Red Sox’ 40-man roster is now at 38.
Olds, 27, has posted a 5.33 ERA (30 ER/50.2 IP) with 74 strikeouts in 39 games for Worcester this season. The right-hander also made seven Grapefruit League appearances for Boston as a non-roster invitee. Selected by the Red Sox in the 7th round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft, the Oklahoma native owns a 5.88 ERA (254 ER/389.0 IP) with 489 strikeouts in 185 career minor league games (42 starts).
Burgos, 27, tossed the final 4.0 innings in yesterday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, allowing one run on two hits and one walk with one strikeout. The left-hander owns a 2.70 ERA (3 ER/10.0 IP) in three appearances for Boston this season. He has also pitched in 16 games (14 starts) for Worcester, recording a 5.54 ERA (40 ER/65.0 IP) with 54 strikeouts. Originally selected by Cleveland in the 18th round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, the Puerto Rico native owns a 3.27 ERA (4 ER/11.0 IP) in four career Major League games with the San Francisco Giants (2024) and Red Sox (2026).
