CINCINNATI -- Rehabbing from arthroscopic surgery in March to remove bone chips from his right elbow, Reds pitcher has made progress and is well underway with a throwing program.

On Tuesday, Greene was scheduled to long toss to a distance of 110 feet at the team facility in Goodyear, Ariz. The anticipation is that he could be roughly three weeks away from his first bullpen session.

“Give or take a little bit maybe," manager Terry Francona said.

Greene was expected to miss 14-16 weeks after having the March 11 elbow procedure, which put the 26-year-old on track to return to the Reds sometime in July – if there are no complications.

Francona expected Greene to be back around the team sooner than that, however.

“For sure once he starts throwing his bullpens, we definitely would like to get him here," Francona said. "We’re kind of working through that now. It’s nice to have guys around, it really is. It’s probably good for him. At the same time, he can get 1-on-1 [treatment in Arizona]. We’ll encourage him to stay there a little bit, at least until he’s closer to his bullpens.”

Greene was 7-4 with a 2.76 ERA in 2025 but set career lows with 19 starts, 132 strikeouts and 107 2/3 innings because he missed more than two months with a Grade 1 right groin strain.

This season, the Reds’ rotation has been moving forward so far without both Greene and .

Out with a blister on his left index finger since his final Spring Training start on March 22, Lodolo felt good following his rehab assignment start for High-A Dayton on Sunday. The left-hander threw 51 pitches and mixed in six sliders, which is the pitch that has caused his blister issues each of the last three seasons. He also threw the pitch during his warm-up without complications.

Up next for Lodolo is another rehab start on Saturday with Triple-A Louisville, which will be playing at Omaha.
