After extending his hitting streak in his final at-bat in two straight games, Jose Siri was unable to repeat the feat once more on Friday. The Reds' No. 24 prospect went 0-for-3 and drew a controversial walk in his final trip to the plate for Class A Dayton, snapping his Midwest League-record 39-game hitting streak.
Siri's streak is the longest in the Minor Leagues this season and the longest since Francisco Mejia authored a 50-game hitting streak across two levels in 2016.
The Minor League record is 69, set by Joe Wilhoit in 1919, and Joe DiMaggio had a 61-game Minor League hit streak in 1933, second-longest of all-time. Siri, meanwhile, owns a share of 11th place on the all-time list with his 39-gamer.

Siri, who started in center field and batted leadoff, grounded out in the first inning, struck out in the third and hit a flyout to center field in the sixth.
Dayton's Michael Beltre struck out swinging to start the bottom of the eighth, which led to the ejection of Dragons manager Luis Bolivar. Batting second in the frame, Siri saw the first pitch from Great Lakes right-hander Ryan Moseley go behind him.

He would eventually work the count full and reach via a walk on a ball-four pitch well outside, and both teams' benches cleared as he trotted to first base.

Once play resumed, Siri, a 22-year-old outfielder, promptly stole second base and advanced to third on a throwing error before scoring Dayton's first run of the game on a wild pitch, avoiding the tag with a headfirst slide.

Siri batted .335 with 12 doubles, three triples, 13 homers and 32 RBIs during his streak, which started on June 22.
He's hitting .293 this season, with 69 runs scored and 58 RBIs in 101 games. What's more, Siri is the only Minor Leaguer this season to have hit 19 home runs with 30 stolen bases.
