Selsky made impression during brief call-up

LOS ANGELES -- The Reds optioned outfielder Steve Selsky to Triple-A Louisville in order to clear 25-man roster room for Tuesday's starter, Daniel Wright.
Selsky was called up Friday to replace Tim Adleman, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list with an oblique strain. Selsky made his big league debut the same day, striking out as a pinch-hitter against the Mariners.
"These guys, to come up for three, four, five days, a week, that's fine," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "But if they're not going to be in the lineup at least half the time, they're spinning their wheels as far as development goes.
"He understands how to play the game and he can hit. The only issue he's had is staying healthy. So what he's done is he's got himself on the roster and he becomes a very easy piece to call back up."
Wright took the 40-man roster spot of right-hander Layne Somsen, who was claimed off waivers by the Yankees on Tuesday
