CINCINNATI -- Make it eight. That's how many Reds starting pitchers have been placed on the disabled list this season.
The latest is right-hander Robert Stephenson. Stephenson bruised his right rotator cuff diving for a bunt in Pittsburgh. The injury is relatively minor, but Stephenson was placed on the 10-day DL. His roster spot was taken by right-hander Lisalverto Bonilla. The Reds also activated shortstop Zack Cozart from the 10-day DL. Outfielder Phillip Ervin was optioned to Triple-A Louisville to open a spot for Cozart.
Stephenson pitched two more innings in Pittsburgh after the play on which he was injured.
"That day, when you're throwing you have a lot of adrenaline, so you're not going to feel anything," Stephenson said. "I slept on it that night. When I woke up, I was a little stiff. I had it checked out by a doctor. He told me I could start [Monday] if I really wanted to. There's no reason to push it.
"I'll rehab and get it strong. That way, I slot somewhere in the rotation next time through."

Tim Adleman, who was just pulled from the rotation due to ineffectiveness before his last start, will start Monday's game. Stephenson will take a total of four days off from throwing.
"I'll play catch [Monday]," Stephenson said. "Hopefully things go well, and I'll throw a bullpen [session] in the next few days and be ready the next time through the rotation."
The 10 days on the DL should be enough.
"I anticipate, I'm optimistic that over the course of the 10 days, he should be fine to pitch," Reds manager Bryan Price said.
Stephenson was coming off one his better starts. He went 5 2/3 innings and allowed one run on two hits. He walked two and struck out four. He was victim of a blown save in the Reds' 5-2 win.
Stephenson doesn't regret the dive.
"It would have been a lot better if I caught it," Stephenson said. "You can't think about those things."
The Reds' rotation remains in a perpetual state of flux. Price said Saturday that he expected Scott Feldman, on the DL since July 18 with a sprained right knee, to rejoin the rotation in the next five days. He amended that Sunday.
"That's not quite as likely," Price said. "Upon further review, he's a little better, but further away -- not from pitching, but if he had to run the bases, some of the agility stuff around the mound. I'm not comfortable that he's ready to do that. So we'll hold off on that."
