Reggie has successful knee surgery after fall
'Mr. October' in camp with Yankees as guest instructor
TAMPA, Fla. -- Reggie Jackson underwent successful right knee surgery after the Hall of Famer slipped while walking on Tuesday morning.
A club spokesperson said Jackson is "in good spirits and good hands."
"Mr. October" will turn 72 in May and is in Yankees camp as a guest instructor.
Jackson hit 563 home runs over a 21-year big league career from 1967-87, playing 10 years with the Athletics, five with the Angels and Yankees, and one with the Orioles.
Best remembered for his three-homer performance for the Yankees in Game 6 of the 1977 World Series against the Dodgers, Jackson is a 14-time All-Star, a two-time Silver Slugger Award winner and the 1973 American League MVP.
He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1993, appearing on 93.6 percent of ballots cast.
