Right-handed pitcher César Valdez was claimed off waivers by the Toronto Blue Jays, the club announced today. Valdez was designated for assignment on Wednesday.
 
Valdez had no decisions and a 9.64 ERA in four games, including one start, over two stints with Oakland this year. He was selected from Nashville on April 20 and started against the Mariners that night. Valdez was optioned back to Nashville the next day but did not pitch before the A's called again on April 25. He allowed seven runs in 5.1 innings over three relief appearances during his second stint. Valdez was 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA in two starts with Nashville.
