
The Pulaski River Turtles fell short to the Princeton WhistlePigs, 9-7, on Thursday night. The WhistlePigs remain undefeated and improved to 5-0 on the season as the River Turtles fell to 2-5.
The River Turtles struck first in the game with a run in the bottom of the second inning. Pulaski began to lose momentum in the third inning though as Princeton scored seven unanswered runs.
The River Turtles scored a run in the bottom of the sixth after Princeton's pitcher Brody Eglite failed to make the catch off on a sky-high pop fly.
The WhistlePigs tacked on another run in the top of the seventh, but that didn't stop the River Turtles from scoring two in the bottom of the inning thanks to a two-RBI single from Mark Trotta. The scoring continued for the River Turtles with a 405-foot home run to right center-field by outfielder Ross Lovich.
The WhistlePigs scored in the top of the ninth off of a wild pitch to make the score 9-6. In the bottom of the inning, the River Turtles struck fast off of a triple by outfielder John Bay. Infielder Tommy Woods brought Bay in off of a sacrifice-RBI in the next at-bat to make it 9-7. The River Turtles had the winning run at the plate with two outs to go but could not get the job done.
The River Turtles continue their home stand tomorrow with a rematch against the WhistlePigs.
