SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The Rockies announced 10 non-roster invitees, six with Major League service time, on Sunday -- the day of physicals and the first official workout, a light one, at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick.

The group includes three pitchers who have been in Minor League camp, which could put them in a better position to earn a roster spot before the season begins – lefty starter-reliever and Denver native Ty Blach (92 games, including 44 starts, with the Giants and Orioles), righty reliever and Fort Collins, Colo., native JD Hammer (40 games with the Phillies), and righty Zach Lee (four games with the Dodgers and Padres).

Others with big league time are outfielder Scott Schebler (394 combined games with the Dodgers, Reds, Braves and Angels), catcher Carlos Pérez (212 games with the Angels, Braves and Rangers) and outfielder Tim Lopes (94 games with the Mariners and Brewers).

Also invited were righty reliever Nate Griep (0.75 ERA in 25 games at Triple-A Albuquerque in 2021), catcher Brian Serven (.250 at Albuquerque), infielder Kyle Holder (.216 in Yankees Triple-A in ’21) and utility man Bret Boswell, who missed last season with a severe ankle injury.

The abbreviated spring means camp will not include top young prospects, as it has in the past, but some will be expected to appear in Cactus League games.
