DENVER -- The Rockies' 34-game Spring Training schedule, which begins against the D-backs on Feb. 25, will include a World Baseball Classic exhibition game.
The slate opens at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick in Scottsdale, Ariz. -- a stadium complex the Rockies and D-backs share -- with games Feb. 25 and 26. Also on Feb. 26, a Rockies split squad will play against the White Sox in Glendale, Ariz.
The Rockies will meet Puerto Rico's WBC squad March 9 at Salt River Fields. The ballpark will host two other WBC games not involving the Rockies -- the D-backs face Mexico on March 8 and the WBC Pool E (Tokyo) qualifier March 18.
Root Sports Rocky Mountain will broadcast six games -- March 20 and March 25 against the World Series champion Cubs, March 22 against the American League champion Indians, March 24 against the Giants, March 31 against the Mariners in Peoria, Ariz., and the Cactus League finale April 1 against the Mariners at Salt River Fields.
KOA NewsRadio, the Rockies' radio partner since the inaugural season in 1993, will broadcast 23 games beginning with the opener on a couple of frequencies. Twelve of the games will be on KOA NewsRadio 850 AM and 94.1 FM, with the other 11 on KDSP Denver Sports 760.
All of the home games are at 1:10 p.m. local time except for March 28 against the Rangers and April 1 against the Mariners, which will start at 12:10 p.m.
