December 1st, 2025

DENVER -- The Rockies announced Monday that they have hired Nicky Schmidt as senior vice president and chief revenue and strategy officer. In the newly created position, Schmidt will oversee the club's ticketing, merchandise and corporate partnerships departments and report directly to executive vice president Walker Monfort.

Prior to joining the Rockies, Schmidt spent 14 years with the Guardians, most recently serving as Cleveland's senior vice president of organizational strategy and business analytics.

“Nicky is an exceptional and innovative leader with a deep understanding of the modern sports business as shown through her time with the Guardians,” Monfort said. “By creating this position and bringing her on board, we are continuing to strengthen the foundation of our organization and are positioning ourselves to grow, evolve, and deliver the type of product our fans deserve.”

Before becoming the Guardians' senior vice president of organizational strategy and business analytics in 2022, Schmidt led teams in a variety of roles across strategy, data science, business intelligence, brand marketing and consumer insights. During her time with Cleveland, she also directed large-scale capital projects that included major ballpark and front office transformations, implementing advanced analytics to guide organizational strategy and leading organizational restructuring and optimization.

"While I thank all of my colleagues at the Guardians for our incredible journey together, I’m honored to join the Colorado Rockies at such an exciting moment and bring my experience to the Mile High City,” Schmidt said. “The Rockies’ deep roots in the community, iconic fan experience at Coors Field and commitment to growth present a tremendous opportunity. I look forward to working with the team to build on that foundation and elevate how we connect with fans and partners across Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region.”

Before joining Cleveland, Schmidt spent six years with Monitor Group, a global management consulting firm in Chicago, where she consulted clients on sustainable growth, organizational design and strategic investments.

Schmidt received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance with a certificate in international business from the University of Iowa before earning her MBA in marketing and management from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
