The Rockies snapped an eight-game skid Friday night and look to continue to gain ground in the uber-competitive National League West on Saturday in the second of a three-game series against the D-backs, who occupy the spot just ahead of Colorado in the division standings. 
The Rox send Tyler Chatwood (6-8, 4.32 ERA) to the mound to face Arizona ace Zack Greinke (9-4, 3.08). Both righties struggled with control in their last outings, but Greinke battled through it for a one-run, three-hit outing to earn the win over the Phillies. Chatwood didn't fare as well, allowing eight walks and four runs in 3 1/3 innings. He and the Rockies aim to get back on track at Chase Field at 10:10 p.m. ET.

Hoping for Hamels: TEX@CWS, 2:10 p.m.
Cole Hamels (2-0, 4.38) looked a bit rusty in his first start after returning from two months on the disabled list because of an oblique injury. Monday, he issued four walks and gave up seven runs on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings against the Indians. In this matinee, the left-hander will try to show the White Sox offense the stuff that made him a longtime Rangers ace.
The White Sox will turn to lefty Derek Holland, who despite a 9.55 ERA and eight home runs allowed in June, posted a respectable one-run, six-inning line in his last time out against the A's.
Will Wheeler deal? PHI@NYM, 4:10 p.m.
Mets fans hope Zack Wheeler (3-5, 5.29) leaves his right biceps tendinitis behind him for good this afternoon. He missed just one scheduled start with the injury, but was clearly feeling its effects in his two previous appearances, when he gave up 15 runs in a combined 3 2/3 innings. The Mets sent him to the 10-day disabled list, and hope he's fresh amid concerns of arm fatigue.

Opposing Wheeler is the Phillies' Jeremy Hellickson (5-5, 4.40), who aims to build on successful outings his last two times through the rotation when he gave up just two runs in a combined 13 innings.
Montgomery's mastery: NYY@HOU, 7:15 p.m.
Jordan Montgomery (6-4, 3.53) has been a breath of fresh air for the Yankees, who've been holding their own in the American League East. The lefty twirled a one-run, seven-inning gem to earn the win against the White Sox in his last outing, and he hasn't lost a game since May 29.

To keep that streak alive, he'll have to contend with a potent Astros lineup and with righty Francis Martes (2-0 5.51), who will get his first look at the Yankees today.
