Rodriguez hits two homers, drives in nine for Bowie

June 8th, 2017

Aderlin Rodriguez attempted his best Scooter Gennett impersonation on Wednesday as he went 5-for-5 with two home runs and a franchise-record nine RBIs to lead Double-A Bowie past Reading, 12-5, in game one of a doubleheader.
That it was the first game of a double dip meant that Rodriguez, a 25-year-old first baseman, accomplished his historic feat in just seven innings. What's more, he did so in his first game since going 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs on June 4.

Rodriguez started the scoring for Bowie with a bloop two-run single down the right-field line in the bottom of the first and then added another run-scoring knock in the next frame.
He would homer in his next two at-bats, hitting a two-run shot to left-center field in the fourth inning followed by a three-run blast to center in the sixth to pushed his RBI total to eight -- matching the Skysox's single-game record.
In his final trip to the plate, Rodriguez, batting with two outs in the seventh inning, made the record his own as he pushed across a run with an infield single to second base.

Rodriguez was held hitless in three at-bats in the nightcap, as Bowie fell to the Fightin Phils, 4-0, to split the twin bill.
In his first Double-A season, Rodriguez is hitting .305 with 11 homers and 40 RBIs through 57 games.
