ATLANTA -- Ronald Acuña Jr. was forced to exit Tuesday night’s game against the Reds at Truist Park after fouling a pitch off his lower left leg in the bottom of the third inning. The Braves later announced he had suffered a left shin contusion, but that X-rays were negative.
Acuña fell to the ground in pain immediately after the foul ball hit just between his left shin guard and left knee. He tried to take a few steps before going to the ground again.
The Braves' outfielder was able to get to the dugout under his own power.
Acuña entered Tuesday tied with Alex Bregman for MLB’s second-best OPS (1.119) dating back to Aug. 28.
