KANSAS CITY, Mo.—The Kansas City Royals announced today they have acquired right-handed pitcher Connor Seabold from the Toronto Blue Jays for right-handed pitcher Denis Samudio and cash considerations. Seabold was designated for assignment by Toronto on June 10.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the Royals transferred Carlos Estévez to the 60-day IL.
Seabold, 30, has gone 1-0 with a 4.26 ERA (9 ER in 19.0 IP) in 16 relief appearances this season between Detroit (11) and Toronto (5).
He signed with Toronto as a minor league free agent in January, but was released on March 21. Two days later, he signed with Detroit and made the Tigers Opening Day roster. Seabold missed a month on the Injured List with left ankle inflammation but returned to pitch in 3 more games with the Tigers before being designated for assignment on May 24. He was reacquired by Toronto three days later and made 5 appearances with the Blue Jays, 4 of which were scoreless.
Seabold has pitched in parts of five seasons in the Majors with Boston (2021-22), Colorado (2023), Tampa Bay (2025), Atlanta (2025), Detroit (2026) and Toronto (2026). He spent 2024 in Korea, where he went 11-6 with a 3.43 ERA (61 ER in 160.0 IP) in 28 starts for the Samsung Lions. He was selected by Philadelphia in the 3rd round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft out of California State University, Fullerton.
Samudio, 21, went 1-1 with a 4.12 ERA (9 ER in 19.2 IP) in 6 appearances (3 starts) this season between Single-A Columbia and the Arizona Complex League. He was signed as part of the Royals 2025 international free agent class out of Panama.
