PHOENIX -- In a night of big moments, Ryan Waldschmidt delivered the biggest when his two-run homer with one out in the bottom of the ninth led the Diamondbacks to a 4-3 win over the Dodgers in front of a packed house at Chase Field on Friday night.
Max Kepler drew a walk to lead off the ninth against Dodgers closer Edwin Díaz and was pinch run for by Jorge Barrosa.
After Tim Tawa struck out, Waldschmidt launched just his second career home run.
The Diamondbacks built a 2-0 lead through the first five innings with Merrill Kelly holding the Dodgers to no hits and right fielder Corbin Carroll leaping at the wall to rob Tommy Edman of a homer in the third inning. Kelly exited with a right leg cramp in the sixth.
The Dodgers scored single runs in the sixth and seventh to tie the game before Andy Pages' homer to lead off the eighth gave the Dodgers a 3-2 lead that Waldschmidt would turn around with his walk-off heroics.
