MLB's very own Sarah Langs has been nothing short of an inspiration to those within the baseball community -- and those beyond it. Now, she's had a scholarship named after her, the Sarah Langs Women in Baseball Analytics Scholarship.

The three inaugural recipients are Amelia Moir from Oregon State University, Abbey Poole from Miami University (Ohio) and Anika Pophali of Ridge High School (Basking Ridge, N.J.).

Introduced this year by SABR -- The Society of American Baseball Research -- the scholarship is “awarded annually to two recipients and provides meaningful professional development and networking opportunities for female-identifying students or young professionals pursuing a career in baseball analytics and data science.”

The opportunities are made possible thanks to the support of the Gennaro Family Fund.

One of baseball’s preeminent researchers, Langs has bravely battled ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) -- otherwise known as Lou Gehrig’s disease -- since her diagnosis in 2021. Despite the obstacles, Langs has continued producing some of the best and most notable statistics and articles you can find in the world of baseball.

In the wise words of Sarah, this scholarship is yet another reason why baseball is the best.
