Schedule Announced for Phillies Baseball Carpenter Cup presented by Nike; High School All-Stars Compete for Championship Title

Games begin Monday, June 8, as top players showcase talents to scouts and colleges at Phillies MLB Urban Youth Academy Dick Allen Field in FDR Park and Camden Athletic Fields

Starting on Monday, June 8, the top high school all-star baseball players from the tristate area will get the chance to play baseball in front of major league and college scouts during the 40th annual Phillies Carpenter Cup Classic presented by Nike. This 15-game tournament will be played at the Phillies MLB Urban Youth Academy Dick Allen Field in FDR Park as well as Camden Athletic Fields, with the championship game on Monday, June 15, also at Dick Allen Field.

“We’re excited to once again host the Phillies Carpenter Cup, recognized nationally as one of the finest baseball tournaments for high school students,” said Phillies Director of Youth Baseball and Softball Development Jon Joaquin. “This tournament has been a catalyst for many players to receive scholarships and admission to the country’s top universities.”

ABOUT THE PHILLIES MLB URBAN YOUTH ACADEMY

The multi-site Phillies MLB Urban Youth Academy is comprised of both outdoor and indoor facilities to provide free, year-round instruction to the more than 6,000 Phillies Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) players in Philadelphia. The Ryan Howard Training Center at the Marian Anderson Recreation Center in South Philadelphia is a 7,500-square-foot, state-of-the-art training center added to the existing recreation and includes four retractable batting cages similar to those at the Phillies minor league spring training site in Clearwater, Fla. The center also includes space for fitness training, educational and vocational programs. In addition to this facility, the academy consists of an outdoor location at FDR Park in South Philadelphia with two baseball fields and two softball fields.
