LAS VEGAS – Left-handed pitcher , the Rockies’ No. 11 prospect, looked right at home in his big league debut on Friday night.

The 23-year-old tossed three scoreless innings against the Athletics at Las Vegas Ballpark before his outing ended prematurely due to illness, according to the Rockies.

Sullivan allowed two hits and struck out two, retiring nine of the 12 batters he faced. He threw 49 pitches, with 33 of them finding the strike zone – becoming just the seventh Rockies starter to not give up a run in his regular-season debut, and the first since Ryan Castellani on Aug. 8, 2020.

Sullivan utilized a four-pitch arsenal (four-seam fastball, sweeper, cutter and changeup) and showed composure to escape some traffic on the bases after a 1-2-3 first inning. He stranded one runner in the second and two in the third.

Reliever Jeff Criswell kept the game scoreless in the fourth before the A’s finally found some joy against Seth Halvorsen – with Shea Langeliers and Nick Kurtz hitting back-to-back homers to give the hosts a 2-0 lead.
