Miller feels good after Chase mound session

April 23rd, 2016

PHOENIX -- Shelby Miller threw a between-starts session off the main mound at Chase Field on Saturday afternoon and remains on track to start Tuesday against the Cardinals. The pitcher specifically worked on staying on line and not tipping over during his delivery.
"He was driving the ball into the zone and he looked good," manager Chip Hale said. "He was throwing strikes. I think we know that if he throws strikes with his top-end stuff that he's going to get outs."
Miller has struggled with his pitching mechanics and command this season, and it's resulted in two short outings in his last starts. Pitchers usually throw sessions in the bullpen on days when they are not pitching, but the D-backs wanted to try something different with Miller and let him practice his mechanics on the game mound.
"He felt great. He looks good and he feels good," Hale said. "They have video of it, so they'll look at the video."
