Ohtani, Yamamoto, Smith rep reigning champs on All-MLB squad

November 14th, 2025

Three Dodgers players have been voted to the 2025 All-MLB Team presented by MGM Rewards: and as designated hitter and pitcher, respectively, for the First Team, with as a catcher on the Second Team.

The nominations represent even more cherries on top of an already remarkable year for the Dodgers’ organization, which is coming off consecutive World Series wins.

Introduced in 2019, the All-MLB Team recognizes players at each position across Major League Baseball, with First or Second Team selections. Fan selections account for 50% of the voting process, while the other half comes from individuals within baseball media, former players and other reputable members of the baseball world.

This is Ohtani’s fifth All-MLB selection as a DH to go along with three prior All-MLB selections as a starting pitcher. Smith is earning his second nomination since earning a spot on the second team in 2022, and for Yamamoto, it’s his first selection since making his Major League debut in 2024.

Ohtani led the National League with 146 runs scored, 380 total bases and a 1.014 OPS. As a pitcher, he posted a 1-1 record with a 2.87 ERA in 14 games while also striking out 62 batters across 47 innings.

Yamamoto finished the regular season with a 12-8 record in a career-high 30 starts, with a 2.49 ERA while posting an MLB-best 5.9 hits per innings pitched.

Smith finished his regular season with a career-high .296 batting average, notching 17 home runs and 61 RBIs.

These three players not only displayed heroics in the regular season, but also played instrumental roles in setting up the team for a deep postseason push, where the Dodgers defeated the Blue Jays in a thrilling seven-game World Series.

In Game 4 of the National League Championship Series, Ohtani struck out 10 batters in over six scoreless innings while also hitting three home runs, the first pitcher in MLB history to achieve this. In Game 7 of the World Series, Smith hit the game-winning home run in extra innings, while Yamamoto came out of the bullpen to pitch 2 2/3 scoreless extra innings to close out the Dodgers' World Series win.
