Quintana's HR binge continues in San Antonio win

The injury that landed Javier Guerra on the disabled list at Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore triggered a wave of shortstop promotions in the Padres' system Friday.
Ruddy Giron, 19, was promoted from Single-A Fort Wayne to Lake Elsinore. Chris Baker, 21, moved from short-season Class A Tri-City to Fort Wayne. Seventeen-year-olds Hudson Potts and were promoted from the Arizona Rookie League to Tri-City. And Eguy Rosario is coming from the Dominican Republic to join the Arizona Rookie Padres a week before his 17th birthday.
Meanwhile, left fielder Gabriel Quintana hit two homers and right fielder Nick Schulz added a three-run homer Friday night as Double-A San Antonio scored a 5-4 win at Northwest Arkansas.
Quintana's two solo homers gave the 23-year-old from the Dominican Republic five homers in San Antonio's last five games and raised his season total to 19. He is hitting .249.
Schulz (.284) was 2-for-4 with a three-run homer that came immediately in front of Quintana's first homer Friday. SS River Stevens (.253) was 2-for-4 and 1B Trae Santos (.333) was 1-for-3 with a run scored as the Missions improved to 29-25 in the second half of the Texas League and 51-73 overall.
Left-handed starter (1-3, 8.33 ERA) allowed two runs on five hits and two walks with two strikeouts in five innings to get the win.
Right-hander Rey McNutt (9.00) allowed a run on a hit and a walk with two strikeouts in an inning. Left-hander Kyle McGrath (1.40) allowed a hit and a walk with a strikeout in two scoreless innings. Left-hander (1.35) allowed a run on no hits and two walks with a strikeout in an inning to get his second save.
In other moves Friday, infielder-outfielder was transferred from Fort Wayne to Tri-City and infielder-outfielder Kodie Tidwell moved from Fort Wayne to Lake Elsinore.

TRIPLE-A EL PASO (66-60): The Chihuahuas were rained out at Colorado Springs and the game will not be made up.
CLASS A ADVANCED LAKE ELSINORE (30-25, 62-63): Lancaster 6, STORM 3. Starting LHP Jerry Keel (2-2, 6.14 ERA) allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits and three walks with four strikeouts in five innings. RHP (4.87) allowed a hit with three strikeouts in two scoreless innings. RHP Trey Wingenter (2.13) allowed two runs on five hits with a strikeout in two innings. SS Chase Jensen (.345) was 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored. CF Michael Gettys (.305) was 2-for-5 with a RBI and a run scored.
CLASS A FORT WAYNE (20-34, 56-68): Lake County 3, FORT WAYNE 2. Starting RHP Jake Nix (2-7, 3.99 ERA) allowed three runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts in five innings. RHP Corey Kimber (3.14) allowed a hit with two strikeouts in three scoreless innings. RHP David Bednar (3.68) pitched a perfect inning. SS Peter Van Gansen (.232) was 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored.
SHORT-SEASON TRI-CITY (8-14, 27-33): EVERETT 8, Dust Devils 1. CF Billy Reed (.224) was 2-for-4 with a stolen base. DH Boomer White (.243) was 2-for-4. SS Fernando Tatis (.333) was 1-for-3 with a steal. RHP Hansel Rodriguez (0-1, 7.53) allowed seven runs on three hits and three walks with two strikeouts in two innings. RHP Mayky Perez allowed a run on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts in two innings. LHP Trevor Seidenberger (0.00) allowed a hit with two strikeouts in a scoreless inning. RHP Evan Miller (2.08) issued two walks with two strikeouts in two hitless/scoreless innings. LHP Nathan Foriest (4.50) struck out one in a perfect inning.
ARIZONA ROOKIE PADRES (21-27): Cubs 6, PADRES 1. 2B Jose Savinon (.500) was 2-for-4 with a triple and a RBI. CF Aldemar Burgos (.146) was 1-for-2 with a run scored. Starting RHP Jean Garcia (1-4, 3.60 ERA) allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits with three walks in four innings.
DOMINICAN SUMMER LEAGUE PADRES (33-32): Padres 13, REDS 2. SS Jonathan Guzman (.279) was 2-for-4 with two walks and two runs scored. CF Edward Burgos (.316) was 2-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. 3B Elvis Sabala (.234) was 2-for-5 with a RBI. RF Carlos Taveras (.247) was 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored. 2B Kelvin Alarcon (.263) was 1-for-3 with three walks, a steal and three runs scored.
