SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Spencer Torkelson left Wednesday’s Arizona Fall League game early with an ankle sprain, according to a source.

Another source added that the Tigers’ No. 1 prospect is expected to miss a “significant amount of time.” No official roster move has been made, and it's unclear whether he will return to the AFL this year.

After drawing a one-out walk in the fourth inning for Salt River against Surprise, Torkelson was on third base and slid awkwardly back into the bag, rolling his ankle, as catcher Drew Millas (Nationals) tried to pick him off.

Torkelson initially wanted to remain in the game, but he and the Salt River coaching staff opted to play it safe and brought in a pinch runner. The 22-year-old had a slight limp as he walked under his own power back to the dugout.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 Draft walked to the clubhouse between innings and appeared to be moving a bit better.

Torkelson, MLB's No. 4 prospect, hit .267/.383/.552 with 30 homers and 91 RBIs over 121 games this season and is batting .450 through the early stages of the Fall League.
