All across camps in both Florida and Arizona, prospects are excited to participate in the inaugural Spring Breakout, the new MLB initiative aimed at showcasing baseball’s best young talent.
The first-of-its-kind event -- which will run from March 14-17 in both the Grapefruit and Cactus Leagues -- will put prospects front-and-center, as all 30 farm systems get the chance to form rosters full of their best prospects and compete against each other in exhibition games.
Think of it like the Futures Game, only earlier on the calendar and with more players, spread out across Major League Baseball. And it seems like every prospect in the sport is wanting to be a part of it.
Here’s what they’re saying in every big league camp, and what we could see from each club’s team in Spring Breakout.
AMERICAN LEAGUE EAST
Blue Jays
The future is bright for the Blue Jays with prospects like No. 29-ranked Ricky Tiedemann. His electric arm could be on display against the Yankees in the Spring Breakout game on March 16. More »
Orioles
With prospects like Jackson Holliday, Connor Norby and Coby Mayo, the Orioles have the potential to field the most loaded team of the Spring Breakout games when they take on future Pirates on March 14. More »
Rays
MLB’s No. 20 overall prospect Carson Williams is in his first big league camp. He could take the field for the Rays alongside Major Leaguers Junior Caminero and Curtis Mead against Twins prospects on March 16. More »

If Marcelo Mayer, Roman Anthony and Kyle Teel suit up March 16 against the Braves, it’ll be a sneak preview of what’s to come at Double-A Portland this year. And likely Boston after that. More »

Guardians
In the midst of battling for a Major League job, Top 100 prospect Kyle Manzardo might get a chance to flex his muscles before that in the Spring Breakout with organization mates Brayan Rocchio and Chase DeLauter. More »

Blake Mitchell, the Royals' top prospect and the eighth overall pick in the 2023 Draft, will likely highlight Kansas City's roster for its tilt against the Brewers. More »
Tigers
Detroit boasts four Top 100 prospects, including No. 13 Max Clark and No. 25 Jackson Jobe. They could be on the same field for their March 16 tilt against the Phillies. More »

Minnesota’s top two prospects -- Walker Jenkins and Brooks Lee -- haven’t played much alongside one another. That could change March 16 when the Twins face the Rays. More »
White Sox
Top 100 prospects Colson Montgomery and Noah Schultz are set to get their first taste of the intra-city Chicago rivalry in their March 15 Spring Breakout game against the Cubs. The White Sox could also send talented youngsters like righties Nick Nastrini and Jordan Leasure, catcher Edgar Quero and shortstop Jacob Gonzalez. More »

Astros
Astros top pitching prospect Spencer Arrighetti is in big league camp for the first time, and he’ll take that experience into Houston’s Spring Breakout game against the Cardinals on March 17. More »

At only 20 years old, Angels pitching prospect Caden Dana could get his first taste of the crosstown rivalry with the Dodgers during their Spring Breakout matchup on March 16. More »

Max Muncy and Jacob Wilson were high school teammates but could play together again on a bigger stage during the A’s Spring Breakout game. They could be in the lineup on March 15 against San Francisco top prospects. More »

Home or away, the Mariners won’t have to travel far for their Spring Breakout matchup with the Padres. Recent first-round picks Cole Young, Harry Ford and Colt Emerson all could take to the field for Seattle against San Diego, which also calls the Peoria Sports Complex home during the Cactus League. The Rangers just won the World Series, but their next wave of stars will be on display against top Reds prospects on March 14. Hitting prospects will likely be in the spotlight, including 17-year-old phenom Sebastian Walcott and 2023 No. 4 overall Draft pick Wyatt Langford. More »

Braves
Atlanta’s system is all about pitching. Hurston Waldrep leads the Braves’ prospects against the Red Sox on March 16. Atlanta could also send righties Spencer Schwellenbach, Cade Kuehler, Owen Murphy and top prospect A.J. Smith-Shawver. More »

Miami’s top prospect is Noble Meyer, the 10th overall pick in last year’s Draft. Spring Breakout is a chance to see the precocious righty and other youngsters like infielders Jacob Berry and Yiddi Cappe. More »

The Phillies could feature a trio of top prospects on their Spring Breakout roster, including three players currently at big league camp -- Mick Abel (the club's No. 2 prospect), Griff McGarry (No. 5) and Carlos De La Cruz (No. 6). More »

Brewers
The Brewers might have up to five prospects on the diamond for the final Spring Breakout tilt on March 17. Wes Clarke, who is a candidate for the squad as a non-roster invitee to big league camp, said “It would mean the world to me,” if he was selected. More »
Cardinals
St. Louis is the only Grapefruit League team playing two Spring Breakout games. They’ll face the Marlins on March 15 and the Astros on March 17, both times at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. More »
