VIERA, Fla. -- Cardinals right fielder Stephen Piscotty was scheduled to play Sunday against the Nationals, but the team decided to be cautious after he was hit by a pitch on his left elbow Saturday.
Manager Mike Matheny said Piscotty was feeling fine Sunday morning before the 4-4 tie, although he did not place a timetable on Piscotty's return. Matheny did say Piscotty would have likely played if this happened during the regular season.

Piscotty left Saturday's game after being hit in the elbow by a pitch from Mets pitcher Stormy Pimentel. Piscotty admitted his elbow felt a little tender after the game, but X-rays taken Saturday were negative for any serious injury.
"Go whack your funny bone as hard as you can against the wall and see if you're sore tomorrow," Matheny said. "It's a bad spot."
Piscotty is hitting .429/.529/.500 in seven Grapefruit League games with a 1.029 OPS.
• Outfielder Tommy Pham was removed from Sunday's game in the sixth inning, after he cut his lip on his helmet as he slid into second base. After the game, Pham said he was feeling OK.

"We knew he was coming out anyhow," Matheny said. "He was a little concerned, thought he might have busted a tooth or something, but he was good."
