Veteran left game following his second-inning double

May 14th, 2017

TORONTO -- Blue Jays left fielder Steve Pearce left Sunday's 3-2 win over the Mariners with right calf tightness after a play at second base in the second inning.
Toronto manager John Gibbons did not elaborate on the extent of the injury after the game, but he did say that Pearce will undergo an MRI.
Pearce was sliding into second base after driving a double to the gap in right-center field. The headfirst slide took him to the left side of the bag as he twisted to avoid the tag.
Immediately after the slide, Pearce walked back to the dugout under his own power as the trainers came on to the field.<o:p>
