ATLANTA -- Twenty years after opening Turner Field with an exhibition game against the Yankees, the Braves will do the same at their new ballpark.
The Braves announced a March 31 exhibition game against the Yanks will serve as the first game they will play at SunTrust Park. This game will be open only to Braves A List members, a group reserved for full and partial season-ticket holders.
"The excitement is growing for the opening of SunTrust Park and The Battery Atlanta, and we want to share that excitement as a reward to our season-ticket holders and showcase the building for the first time in front of them," said Braves president of business Derek Schiller. "Our new ballpark will be among the best in Major League Baseball, and this game will give our A List members the opportunity to get a first glimpse at SunTrust Park. It will give them the chance to find their way to the ballpark, find their way around the ballpark, try out our new concessions and experience firsthand all of the state-of-the-art amenities."
A pair of exhibition games against the Yankees in 1997 served as the first two games the Braves played at Turner Field.
Over the course of the next few months, the Braves will announce other preseason events that will give fans a chance to see the many different entertainment options that will be available at SunTrust Park next year.
Fans wishing to join the 2017 A List can purchase a membership online at braves.com or in person. Only full-season memberships on The A List are available at this time.
