CLEVELAND -- Infielder Nick Franklin has been recalled from Triple-A Durham, and should be available to play Tuesday night when the Rays meet the Indians for the second game of a three-game series.
Outfielder Mikie Mahtook was placed on the disabled list after sustaining a left hand fracture after being hit by a pitch in the second inning of Monday night's 7-4 loss to the Indians.
Franklin will be starting his second tour with the team this season. He was recalled on June 5 after Brandon Guyer went on the DL with a left hamstring strain. He was optioned back to Durham on June 10 when the Rays reinstated Logan Forsythe from the DL.
Franklin has played in three games for the Rays, walking twice in three plate appearances.
