Two-time reigning AL Cy Young Award winner will take the ball for the Tigers on Opening Day against the Padres, manager A.J. Hinch announced at spring camp on Wednesday morning.

Detroit will open its season in San Diego on March 26, with first pitch set for 4:10 p.m. ET.

Skubal fronts a stacked Tigers rotation that includes Jack Flaherty, Casey Mize and new additions Framber Valdez and Justin Verlander, whom the club signed to a one-year deal on Tuesday.

Skubal coasted to his second Cy Young win in as many seasons last year, pacing the AL with a career-best 2.21 ERA and recording 241 strikeouts in 195 1/3 innings.

A panel sided with Skubal last week in an arbitration hearing to determine his 2026 salary, which will be $32 million, according to a source.
