MIAMI -- Taste of Miami, a dynamic charity event showcasing a delectable selection of culinary bites, fine wines and craft beverages from the City's top restaurants and breweries, will take place on Thursday, February 18 at Marlins Park. The evening, which begins at 6 p.m. for VIP ticket holders and 7 p.m. for general admission, will be hosted by Marlins All-Star pitcher Jose Fernandez and celebrity chef Adrianne Calvo. Proceeds from this event under the stars will benefit Marlins Foundation Scholarships to the Hispanic Food and Beverage Foundation, and the Miami Culinary Institute's Joanna Rodriguez Memorial Scholarship Fund.
The event will be highlighted by a "Chef Showdown" between Chef James Tahhan, from Sabores Restaurant, and former Marlins All-Star Mike Lowell vs. Chef Andres Barrientos, from Miami Smokers, and "Mr. Marlin" Jeff Conine. The cooking challenge will be judged by Jose Fernandez, Chef Adrianne, and celebrity guest chef Ralph Pagano from Naked Taco.
Featured restaurants and microbreweries will also compete for the coveted Taste of Miami "Grand Slam" Award. The Grand Slam Award is a "Best In Show" form of recognition that will be determined by votes from the event's attendees. The winning entry will receive a 2016 Taste of Miami Grand Slam Trophy and a $1,000 donation will also be made to the winner's charity of choice.
