The Angels appear to be adding another reliever, with Tayler Saucedo seemingly on the verge of joining the team.
The club hasn’t announced a deal with the left-hander, but a recent change to the bio on his personal Instagram account suggests that he has an agreement in place with the Halos.
Pitching has been a focus for the Angels this winter. They previously landed relievers Drew Pomeranz, Kirby Yates and Jordan Romano and starter Alek Manoah on one-year contracts, and also traded outfielder Taylor Ward to the Orioles for starter Grayson Rodriguez. Adding Saucedo would be another low-risk move for the club.
The 32-year-old Saucedo became a free agent after being non-tendered by the Mariners in November. He appeared in just 10 games for Seattle this past season, recording a 7.43 ERA with 12 strikeouts and six walks over 13 1/3 innings. Saucedo was a bigger part of the Mariners’ bullpen in 2023-24, recording a 3.54 ERA over 86 1/3 innings spanning 105 appearances in those two seasons.
Saucedo, who pitched for the Blue Jays before joining the Mariners, owns a lifetime 4.36 ERA over 148 games in the Majors.
