Hip injury ends Jungmann's season

September 27th, 2016

ARLINGTON -- Brewers right-hander won't make his final scheduled start after suffering what manager Craig Counsell characterized as a minor hip injury in his outing against the Reds on Saturday night.
Jungmann originally was to pitch Friday or Saturday in Colorado. The Brewers will now start rookie left-hander on Friday and on Saturday. The starting pitcher for Sunday's season finale is to be determined.
"It's not a serious injury [for Jungmann], but it's going to keep him out of starting another game," Counsell said. "He thought he did it hitting, actually, and he pitched the following inning. It did not take him out of the game."
Jungmann took the loss after allowing two earned runs on three hits in four innings against the Reds. A former first-round Draft pick of the Brewers who started their third game this season, Jungmann finished 0-5 with a 7.76 ERA in six starts plus two relief appearances in the Major Leagues this season. He spent most of the year in the Minors.
