ARLINGTON -- The Rangers have agreed to terms with right-handed pitcher Steve Johnson on a Minor League contract with an invitation to Spring Training. He was a free agent because the Orioles did not tender him a contract.
Johnson, 28, appeared in six games for the Orioles last season and allowed six runs in 5 1/3 innings. He was 4-1 with a 2.30 ERA in 32 games, including three starts, at Triple-A Norfolk.
He is 5-1 with a 4.25 ERA in 27 Major League games, including five starts in 2012-13 with the Orioles. He is the son of former Orioles pitcher Dave Johnson.
