Hype up for baseball: '19 classics streaming nightly

July 13th, 2020

Baseball is right around the corner, and what better way to get ready for the 2020 season than by enjoying some of the most exciting moments from last season? Starting Monday evening and continuing through the weekend, Major League Baseball will feature a “Countdown to Return” series on its social channels to highlight impressive victories and top performances from some of the game's biggest stars in 2019. Games will stream nightly on MLB's Twitter, Facebook and YouTube pages at 7 p.m. ET.

Here are the 2019 performances scheduled to be featured:

Monday: Angels vs. Rays on June 13, 2019

Shohei Ohtani has set the new standard for two-way players in baseball, and on this night, he did his damage at the plate. Ohtani became the first Japanese-born player in MLB history to hit for the cycle in the Angels' 5-3 win over the Rays. In doing so, he also became the seventh player in Angels history to accomplish the feat.

Tuesday: Rockies vs. Dodgers on June 21, 2019

Walker Buehler has become one of baseball's best young arms, and he showed why with this dominant performance against the Rockies. The Dodgers right-hander struck out a career-high 16 batters and allowed three hits in a 4-2 walk-off win to earn his first of two complete-game victories in 2019.

Wednesday: Yankees vs. Twins on July 23, 2019

Before the Yankees and Twins met in the postseason, they engaged in one of the wildest games of the 2019 season. In a slugfest between two of baseball's most powerful lineups, the clubs combined for 26 runs, 35 hits, six home runs and a highlight-reel game-ending catch from Aaron Hicks that sent the Yankees to a 14-12 victory.

Thursday: Cubs vs. Phillies on Aug. 15, 2019

Bryce Harper had a handful of big moments during his first season with the Phillies, but none was as big as his walk-off homer against the Cubs. With the Phillies trailing, 5-3, with one out in the bottom of the ninth, Harper launched a grand slam off reliever Derek Holland to complete Philadelphia’s 7-5 comeback against Chicago.

Friday: Braves vs. Cardinals (NLDS Game 4) on Oct. 7, 2019

Facing a 2-1 deficit in the National League Division Series, the Cardinals needed Yadier Molina to come through in order to extend the best-of-five series. The longtime Cards catcher tied the game with an RBI single in the eighth and delivered a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning to score Kolten Wong and send St. Louis to a series-tying 5-4 victory.

Saturday: Nationals vs. Dodgers (NLDS Game 5) on Oct. 9, 2019

Before they could continue their magical run to the World Series, the Nationals first had to dispatch the mighty Dodgers. Howie Kendrick helped them do so by launching a grand slam in the top of the 10th inning of a win-or-go-home game at Dodger Stadium. The Nats, who scored seven unanswered runs, had pushed the game into extras with two late home runs off Clayton Kershaw in a 7-3 win.

Sunday: Nationals vs. Astros (World Series Game 7) on Oct. 30, 2019

The Nationals defeated the Astros, 6-2, to capture their first World Series title in franchise history. They became the first team in Major League history to win all four games on the road and sealed this victory with late home runs from Anthony Rendon and Kendrick.
