It's now September, which means each team can expand its roster up to 40 players as it sees fit. Anyone already on the 40-man roster can automatically be called up. Anyone not on the roster can be added to make it possible.
There will be teams looking for a boost in a playoff race with a young bat off the bench or an extra bullpen arm. Teams no longer contending might give some of their top prospects a month-long look/audition as they plan for 2017 and beyond.
