The Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday announced Cleveland Heights native and three-time Super Bowl Champion Travis Kelce has joined the Guardians as an investor.

Kelce, who grew up as a Cleveland baseball fan and attended Cleveland Heights High School, is considered one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history. Over the span of a 13-year career with the Kansas City Chiefs, Kelce is an 11-time Pro Bowler, seven-time All-Pro and holds NFL tight end records for most consecutive and most overall seasons (seven) with 1,000+ receiving yards. He won Super Bowls LIV, LVII, and LVIII, cementing his place as a future Hall of Famer.

“Everyone knows how much love I have for this city, so to have the opportunity to come back and join the Guardians’ ownership group is the coolest thing in the world,” Kelce said. “I’ve always looked for ways to support and uplift my hometown, so I can’t wait to keep sharing the love and the passion I have for sports and this community as we look to bring a World Series title back to the Land.”

Kelce lettered in football, basketball and baseball for the Cleveland Heights Tigers, being named The Plain Dealer Baseball Player of the Week in May of his senior year, going 14-for-22 with five doubles, two home runs, four steals, 12 RBI and 12 runs scored. His father, Ed Kelce, coached him on the diamond from T-ball on up. Kelce also played on a collegiate summer team – the Champions Academy – in 2010 while he was at the University of Cincinnati.

“Travis Kelce knows what it takes to win at the highest levels and he’s exemplified that throughout his playing career and in the way he shows up as a community leader and businessman,” Paul Dolan, Guardians Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and David Blitzer, Guardians partner, said. “He cares deeply for Cleveland and Northeast Ohio and is committed to supporting our mission of building out a world-class organization that helps uplift the communities we serve. It’s great to welcome Travis home and we know he’ll make a lasting impact here.”

Kelce elaborated on his new ownership stake and this exciting new venture on his New Heights podcast with his brother Jason Kelce. That episode can be heard, here. He will also be in-park to celebrate on Sunday, June 14, when the Guardians take on the Detroit Tigers. Tickets are still available at CLEGuardians.com/tickets.
