CHICAGO -- Tristan Peters homered for a fourth straight game and finished a triple shy of his second cycle this season, as the White Sox bounced back from a rough Monday effort to claim an 11-7 victory over the Rangers on Tuesday night at Rate Field.
Peters connected in the sixth inning to make a tight game a little more comfortable. He had three of the team’s 14 hits.
Peters’ four straight games with a home run leave him one behind equaling the franchise record of five, held by Munetaka Murakami this season, A.J. Pierzynski (2012), Paul Konerko (2017), Carlos Lee (2017), Frank Thomas (twice in ‘94), Ron Kittle (1983) and Greg Luzinski (1983). Murakami, Colson Montgomery and Peters all have had home run streaks of at least four games this season.
This game didn’t start on a perfect note, as Wyatt Langford’s high popup landed between third baseman Miguel Vargas, Murakami, pitcher Anthony Kay and catcher Drew Romo for a gift single with two outs in the first. The Rangers put runners on second and third, before Ezequiel Duran bunted back to Kay to end the frame.
That sequence marked the low moment for the White Sox (69-63), who scored six runs in the first inning off Jacob deGrom. Peters doubled home two and Brenton Doyle added a two-run single, although none of Chicago’s connections in that inning went above an 80 mph exit velocity, according to Statcast.
Five White Sox players had at least two hits. Peters was the lone starter to clear the fences.
