CLEVELAND -- After an eight-game losing streak that dated back to May 2, the Twins finally found themselves in the win column on Saturday against the Indians.
Twins manager Paul Molitor couldn't help but admit that he breathed a sigh of relief after watching his team snap the skid with a 6-3 victory at Progressive Field. It was just their third road win of the season, ending a streak of six straight road losses. Coincidentally, their two wins in May have come on the road against Astros ace Dallas Keuchel on May 2, and against Indians ace Corey Kluber on Saturday, the last two winners of the American League Cy Young Award.
"It's just good to win," Molitor said. "It seems like it's been a long time. We got a lot of good efforts from people today. I feel a little relieved. It's one of those things where we're trying to continue to find ways to reinstill some confidence here. Even when we have days where we might be showing some signs of life, we find ways to lose."
It was like that on Friday, when they had a one-run lead in the eighth, only to give up three runs and ultimately lose the game by a run. But on Saturday, right-hander Ervin Santana put an end to their streak by tossing six strong innings, allowing one run on five hits, to outpitch Kluber and get his first win of the year.
"It's very exciting," Santana said. "Everybody is happy and did a good job today. We have to keep our minds fresh like nothing has been going on. But it was tough, especially with the way we were playing. But today we kept swinging and everything went our way. So we just have to stay positive."
The Twins got help from an unlikely source, as backup catcher Juan Centeno hit a go-ahead two-run blast off Kluber in the fifth for his first Major League homer. Centeno, who also helped spark a two-run rally in the ninth with a leadoff double, had hit only four homers in 456 career games in the Minors.

"It feels good," Centeno said. "We need to keep it going and keep playing good games. The wins are going to come."
The Twins were certainly more upbeat after the game, and Molitor said he hopes it's the kind of game that can provide a spark going forward. They're still looking for their first series win since taking two of three against Cleveland from April 25-27 at Target Field.
"Discouragement has been there, and so at some point, you have to find a way to win and get one on the board and see where it goes," Molitor said. "There's no guarantees about tomorrow, but I think everyone will rest a little easier tonight."
