Sano keeps grip on AL ballot lead at 3B

MINNEAPOLIS -- For the second straight week, Minnesota's holds a firm lead at third base in the latest American League voting update for the All-Star Game presented by Mastercard.
In the latest Esurance MLB All-Star Game ballot update released on Tuesday, Sano leads AL third basemen with 1,010,060 votes. of the Indians is well behind in second place with 697,747 votes. Baltimore's Manny Machado (677,925), Toronto's Josh Donaldson (527,860), and Houston's (512,734) round out the top five at the hot corner.
After trailing Machado in the first update, Sano claimed the lead by nearly 98,000 votes last week. Entering Tuesday, Sano had 15 homers, 46 RBIs, and a .576 slugging percentage, all of which ranked first among AL third basemen. According to Statcast™, he led the Majors with an average exit velocity of 97.3 mph.

No other Twins player was represented in the voting update for the third straight week.
Fans may cast votes for starters at MLB.com and all 30 club sites -- on computers, tablets and smartphones -- exclusively online using the 2017 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot until Thursday, June 29, at 11:59 p.m. ET. On smartphones and tablets, fans can also access the ballot via the MLB.com At Bat and MLB.com Ballpark mobile apps. Vote up to five times in any 24-hour period for a maximum of 35 ballots cast.
Following the announcement of the 2017 All-Star starters, reserves and pitchers, fans should return to MLB.com and cast their 2017 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Final Vote for the final player on each league's All-Star roster. Then on Tuesday, July 11, while watching the 2017 All-Star Game presented by MasterCard live on FOX, fans may visit MLB.com to submit their choices for the Ted Williams Most Valuable Player Award presented by Chevrolet with the 2017 MLB All-Star Game MVP Vote.
